Commissioned oils on panel portrait for Colonel Reginald D. Sanders U.S. Army (retired) - to reflect lst operations participation in West African country of Mali. US advisors - along with French Troops - trained local Mali service personnel to repel advancing terrorist group Boko Haram from the Nigeria - Mali region. Wood carver Jonathan Russell - from Greenfield, MA created the wood inlay frame inserting iconic images from Mali - as the colonel expressed a desire for this theme to be subtle but clear - in this portrait. In the near future, he is to be inducted into the Hellfighters 365th Brigade Military Museum in upper Harlem, NYC.
