With electrical power supplied to the sign, the LED's illuminate and charge the letters made of a translucent photo-luminescent material. When the power goes out, the photo-luminescent letters glow for the required 90 minutes. Completely eliminates the need for a battery or other auxiliary power source. Consumes only 1/2 watt power making it the most energy efficient exit sign available.
