The Design Process

The Dayan Wellness Center was a comprehensive architectural and interior design project, designed and led by Pavarini Design. We were given a set of parameters by which the clinic needed to be designed around, beginning with a complete layout of the 6800SF open space to include a Reception Room with a luxury residential feeling, 2 Procedure Rooms, 6 Exam Rooms, Lymphedema Room, Photo Room, Nurse’s Station, 4 private offices, 2 Doctor’s Suites, Adaptable Conference Room, Break Room with exercise and shower for staff, and 5 bathrooms. The Firm provided all Lighting Design Services and Lighting Specification Package, architectural details for integrated lighting, including all ACT ceiling systems, AXIOM wall radius details, all flooring and carpeting details, all FF& E specifications of furniture, artwork, and accessories, along with a full millwork package, fully integrated with IT specifications and medical device requirements.
The Resident Doctor stipulated that we create a luxury atmosphere for the International Plastic Surgery Center that feels residential in feeling and soothing to the eye. Careful selections were made of materials and finishes, organically fluid in design with soft colors and finishes in a pleasing palette of teal, warm neutral tones, and light taupe wood finishes to reinforce healing and to foster well-being in all who experience The Center. An abundance of natural crystals defines the interior with their placement in intricately designed niches to give them prominence within the Reception Room and at key focal points on lighted pedestals in both the public and private areas of the space. Careful attention to patient psychology was taken in selecting the Aphophyllite, Stilbite, and Amethyst crystal selections to infuse the human aura with light energy and healing vibrations. The elegant Reception Room gives patients a very soothing welcome to the healing center, with an exuberant design concept that centers on a grand-scale soft-hued floral-patterned carpeting and boasts an extraordinary lighting scheme, a custom pierced-plaster lighting cove, lighted millwork toe-kick spaces, and ceiling light pockets that highlight the dynamic and comforting interior. The centerpiece of the Reception Room, a curved-radius reception desk clad in Real Rok Fantomex stone with a matching Real Rok Fantomex stone feature wall, gives prominence and strength to the design concept. The theme continues throughout the entire clinic, where material appropriation clearly defines the public and private areas for patients and staff. Clinical and conference areas were thoughtfully conceived with great attention to detail, allowing functionality within the spaces to exceed pre-established organization norms.
Given that the Resident Doctor is a highly decorated board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has received numerous citations, including being named a Top Doctor every year since 2016, his practice supports lymphedema surgery, breast reconstruction, and facial reanimation. The procedure rooms were designed to health-care standards and feature state-of-the-art tunable lighting systems to aid the team of surgeons and staff in the clinic work done on the premises.
Our Firm curated a collection of original oil paintings, prints, a custom floral mural, and selected extensive indoor plants to give the Wellness center a personal feel, aiming to provide staff and patients with an experience like no other clinic of its type in North America. The health and well-being of the staff was equally important to the concept, given the long hours that health-care workers manage, amenities such as a large break room with modern kitchenette and fitness area, multiple staff full-bathrooms with showers and lighting amenities such as tunable lighting controls and virtual skylights make this clinic a cutting-edge facility that boasts an impressive working environment for the staff and an advanced design and amenity package for the patients to feel at ease and well cared-for.
The Lighting Specification Package was the highlight of the interior and served not only to render design elements, including the long custom floral mural wall, which guides you through the space, but also defines the Reception Room with its back-lit custom pierced crown and characteristic light pockets defining the Reception Desk, seating areas, and crystal focal points. The Exam and Procedure Rooms were designed to health-care standards and feature state-of-the-art tunable lighting systems to aid the team of surgeons and staff in the clinic work done on the premises.

As an engineered surface, Fantomex enables controlled manufacturing and optimized material usage. Its ability to achieve complex curved geometries with minimal waste supports more responsible fabrication compared to traditional stone carving methods.

  • Low Maintenance / Reduced Chemical Use:
The refined, non-porous finish minimizes the need for aggressive cleaning agents—an important factor in healthcare environments where hygiene is critical but chemical exposure must be controlled.

  • Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ):
Selected within a healing-focused palette, Fantomex aligns with low-emission material strategies, contributing to a healthier interior environment that supports patient comfort and staff well-being.

  • Longevity in Healthcare Settings:
Its performance in demanding clinical conditions ensures aesthetic consistency over time, aligning with sustainable design goals centered on durability and reduced material turnover.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) Integration

Real Rok Fantomex was integral to the project’s highly coordinated, BIM-driven design and execution:

  • Parametric Design Compatibility:
The signature curved-radius reception desk and feature wall were realized through precise BIM modeling, with Fantomex enabling seamless translation from digital geometry to built form.

  • Material Data Integration:
Incorporated into BIM workflows, Fantomex supports embedded material data including finish, thickness, and performance characteristics—enhancing specification accuracy and documentation clarity.

  • Advanced Coordination with Architectural Systems:
The material was fully integrated with custom millwork packages, lighting systems (including toe-kick lighting and ceiling light pockets), and radius wall conditions, ensuring seamless alignment across disciplines.

  • Fabrication-Ready Modeling:
BIM-enabled detailing allowed Fantomex components to be directly coordinated with fabrication processes, reducing errors, improving efficiency, and ensuring high-precision installation.

  • Accurate Quantity Takeoffs & Waste Reduction:

Notes

At the Dayan Wellness Center, Real Rok Fantomex transcends materiality to become the architectural language of arrival.
Positioned at the heart of the project, the reception environment is defined by a striking interplay of form and surface: a fluid, curved reception desk and monolithic feature wall, both realized in Fantomex, establish a powerful yet serene spatial identity. The material’s capacity for continuous curvature and seamless expression allows the geometry to read as a single, precise, controlled, and quietly monumental sculpted volume.
In a typology traditionally driven by sterility and utility, Fantomex introduces a new paradigm: one in which performance and emotion are inseparable. Its stone-like depth and finely calibrated finish capture and diffuse light across its surface, amplifying the project’s layered lighting strategy and creating an atmosphere that is simultaneously grounded and luminous.
The design intent rooted in well-being, residential softness, and psychological comfort finds its clearest expression in Fantomex. It anchors a palette of muted tones, organic textures, and biophilic interventions, offering a sense of permanence and calm within a highly technical medical program. The result is a material presence that feels both elemental and highly controlled, natural in perception, advanced in execution.
Critically, Fantomex enables what the project demands most: precision without compromise. Its integration into a rigorously coordinated, BIM-driven process enabled the realization of complex radius conditions, seamless adjacencies, and exacting detailing across millwork, lighting, and architectural systems. The outcome appears effortless, yet is deeply technical in its resolution.
Here, Real Rok Fantomex is not applied; it is composed. It shapes movement, frames experience, and defines identity. In doing so, it elevates the Dayan Wellness Center beyond a clinical interior into a spatial narrative of luxury, innovation, and care, setting a new benchmark for material-driven healthcare design
