Carney LibraryU Mass Dartmouth- Dartmouth, MA LS&A provided Furniture and Finishes (FFE) services in association with designlab Architects and Austin Architects, for the renovation of and addition to existing College Library, originally designed by Paul Rudolph in 1976 as part of an entire campus of what is now known as “brutalist” architecture. The exposed corduroy textured concrete was paired with bright primary and secondary colors in the original. The interior design concept for the renovation and addition was to be true to the original while updating the materials and furniture for today’s needs. Our scope of services, included finish and furniture selection, specifications prepared for public bidding, installation observation, administration and punch list. The scope of the renovation of and addition to the library; included a new circulation desk and café, office space, meeting rooms, computer labs,classrooms, new group study areas, comfy reading rooms, formal reading rooms,multipurpose lecture and event space, re-organized stacks, and reference areas.
