FRCH Architects of Cincinnati created three unique concept retail stores for Cincinnati Bell at shopping mall locations surrounding Cincinnati. The curvilear floorplans and original use of materials and lighting transform the convention mall retail store space into a more inviting and architectural environment. Duvall Design provided fabric ceiling structures for indirect lighting, adding drama and softness, as well as creating a contrast to the use of metal and brightly stained woodwork. The three overlapping freeform fabric "wings" radiate from a single point, and sweep downwards across the ceiling space, reflecting light into the room. The whiteness of the fabric adds a feeling of lightness and volume to the space. In addition, three curved, framed fabric panels are magically suspended above the retail display graphics, giving definition to the kiosks, and reflecting diffused light onto the displays.
