Sustainability
As a US manufacturer of quality products for the architectural market for over 100 years, Draper is committed to providing products for the sustainable design market. As members of our local, state, and national community and as members of the USGBC, our company and our employees are continuously upgrading our facilities to be more energy efficient, and introducing “reduce, reuse and recycle” programs. We recycle more than 84 tons of materials per month in nine categories. We've introduced programs for reusing wood and cardboard products, including hundreds of shipping pallets and skids. We are constantly seeking to increase the efficiency of our energy use. This outlook can be seen in our products as well. In today’s world of conservation and rising energy costs, it is important to keep a handle on energy consumption. An easy way to do this is by using the sun’s natural light. Natural sunlight provides a building with free light and keeps it warm. Studies show the sun’s natural light helps productivity and learning as well. At the same time, however, sunlight can overrun a facility causing problems such as high energy costs for constant air conditioning, eyestrain from glare on computers, hot spots in the building and lethargy in employees. Draper solar control solutions, such as the FlexLouver, keep out heat and glare. Steel and aluminum parts of the FlexLouver can be broken down & recycled on site. Draper accepts product back for recycling if there are no onsite services.
