Aquia Dual Flush Toilet

Silver Award
The stylish high-efficiency Aquia dual-flush toilet enables its users to select the amount of water expended each time the toilet is flushed -- 1.6 gallons for heavy or bulk waste or 0.9 gallons, for light or liquid waste. By installing the elegant Aquia, an average family of four could save up to 7,000 gallons of water each year beyond that already saved by a standard 1.6 gpf toilet. With the introduction of TOTO's new high-efficiency Aquia Dual Flush Toilet, homeowners need no longer sacrifice beauty to performance in their bath's design statement to achieve additional water savings. The Aquia has a chic skirted bowl that is not only stylish, but also easy to maintain. The sculpted bowl and wide neck make the unit sturdy. Its handsome dual-button flush actuator, which is integrated into the lid, caps off this model with an elegant design statement. The Aquia's inner beauty arises from its powerful gravity flush with a washdown system that directs 100 percent of the water through the rim to keep the bowl clean, and the sides of the unit's bowl are steeply pitched to force water toward and through its large 2-5/8 inch trapway. Its flush valve is flapperless, enabling the toilet's dual flushing system to perform consistently well over time, without the leaks and increased water consumption associated with ill-fitting replacement flappers. Its flush tower contains a calibrated plunger with a bucketlike float, which fills up when the light-flush button is pushed, driving it down to cut off the water halfway through the flush. The Aquia's waterspot is half-an-inch in diameter larger for a more effective water exchange when the light-flush mode is engaged. Its attractive dual-button flush actuator makes it easy for users to determine which button actuates the light flush and which the heavy.
