The office of Jeffery S. Poss, Architect began in 1989 when Poss became a full-time faculty member of the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Poss' Independent design work includes memorial designs, earthworks, custom homes, interiors and furniture, as well as various design competitions and design-build projects. Recently completed work includes the Second Phase of the World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial, the Peoria County WWI & II Veterans Memorial, the meditation Hut II “Le Cadeau,” and the Architecture Annex at the University of Illinois. The firm's constructed design work has received five awards from the AIA Central Illinois Chapter Design Awards, two awards from the American Society of Architectural Perspectivists Excellence in the Graphic Representation of Architecture, an AIA Small Projects Design Award, a Silver Medal from the Association of Licensed Architects, the Francis J. Plym Distinguished Traveling Fellowship, and a Concrete Steel Reinforcing Institute National Design Award. Poss has also been recognized in several architectural design competitions, including a First Place Award for the Olympic Tribute Design Competition, a First Place in the Francis Plym Traveling Fellowship, a Second Place Award for the Maryland World War II Memorial Competition, a Merit Award for the Saluda Shoals Amphitheater Competition, a First Alternate Travel Fellowship in the 68th Paris Prize in Architecture, and an Honorable Mention in the Steedman Competition. Poss' Biography has been included in Who's Who in America since 1995, and Who's Who in the Fine Arts since 2006. Poss' design and teaching has been presented at national and international Conferences, and featured in publications including Wallpaper* Magazine, Inland Architect, On Honoring Teaching Excellence, The Chicago Architectural Journal, Architecture in Perspective, Competitions Magazine, and the Journal of Architectural Education.
