Justin Seldis
Sunsquare is the UK’s first flat roof skylight manufacturer to be awarded the BSI Kitemark. As one of the world’s most recognised symbols of quality craftsmanship and safety, the Bury St Edmunds-based company is standing alone at a benchmark that’s never been set before by a competitor.Following rigorous testing, which placed Sunsquare’s entire product range under careful examination for air permeability, weather tightness and extreme wind loading at the BSI labs, Sunsquare’s manufacturing methods have helped set a new industry standard for the rest of the competition to follow. The BSI Kitemark opens up new markets to Sunsquare, with developers searching high and low for credible manufacturers to help provide them with natural light and space for exciting new developments.“Overhead glazing has not previously been regulated. This seemed to us a possible disaster in the making, which is why we have pushed for change,” said Justin Seldis, managing director, Sunsquare.“The British Standards Institution (BSI) Kitemark for our whole product range recognises safety is paramount and sends out an important signal to potential clients about our manufacturing methods.“Now we have proved ourselves through rigorous tests regarding air permeability, wind loading and weather tightness, we have set a globally recognised precedent with a launch pad for exporting and overseas expansion.”Sunsquare’s six main products can be utilised in 140 different combinations, which offer homeowners, property developers and architects a unique opportunity to experiment with flat roof and walk-on skylight designs and make a real statement.“[Our BSI Kitemark] is testament to all the staff at Sunsquare, who have played their part in helping achieve this recognition,” added Seldis.“This will undoubtedly enable clients from small self-builders to large commercial projects to buy Sunsquare products knowing they are wholly fit for purpose, trading around the world with a ground-breaking mark of quality.”Sunsquare’s commitment to advanced production processes have resulted in £1 million worth of investment this year in plant and staffing.Bringing all of its processes under one impressive roof has allowed Sunsquare to embark on a new five-year expansion plan, designed to grow exports into northern Europe and develop its new easily transportable skylight range. “These really are exciting times for us as a company. The Kitemark enables us to trade with confidence all over the world and take our products to even higher levels,” said Seldis.http://www.sunsquare.co.uk/
